Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at Lamar University ensures the highest animal welfare standards are maintained along with the conduct of accurate, valid scientific research through the supervision, coordination, training, and guidance. Review of every project proposed to include but not limited to invertebrates, fish, wildlife studies, horses, or other farm related research at Lamar University falls under IACUC guidelines.

Well established procedures are used for reviewing and monitoring animal research, teaching, and testing projects conducted under University auspices.

Required Training

Working with the IACUC is a required course offered through CITI. Training is intended for laboratory research personnel who will write animal use protocols for review by Lamar IACUC.
